The Painted Word

The Foundation vindicates the Artist’s Book from a contemporary point of view with an exhibition in Cordoba that brings together works, artists and publishers.
“The Painted Word. From Picasso to the present day” brings together around a hundred unique pieces at the Vimcorsa exhibition space (C/ Ángel de Saavedra, 9) until 26 November.

Works by Picasso, Chillida, Tapies, William Kentridge, Anthony Caro and Miró alternate with the works of the most committed publishers and the collection of works awarded the Ankaria Artist’s Book Prize.
Cordoba, 29 September – The Ankaria Foundation, in collaboration with Vimcorsa, the municipal housing company of Cordoba City Council, today presented the exhibition “The Painted Word. From Picasso to the present day”, which brings together until 26 November in the exhibition space of this entity (C/ Ángel de Saavedra, 9) around a hundred pieces that describe the evolution of the artist’s book from the beginning of the 20th century, with the figure of Picasso at the forefront, to the present day.

The exhibition is a recognition of this singular form of artistic expression, which has been cultivated by numerous artists over the last two centuries and yet is not so well known to the general public. The exhibition offers a journey through the production of some of the most prestigious creators of the 20th century, such as Picasso, Chillida, Tapies, William Kentridge, Anthony Caro and Miró, and looks at the projects being carried out by some of today’s most important publishers and the collection of works awarded the Ankaria Artist’s Book Prize during its ten years of existence to date.
